The former Montana commissioner of political practices is asking a Gallatin County District Court judge to dismiss a lawsuit a Bozeman lawyer filed against him.
Matthew Monforton, the lawyer and a former Republican state representative, maintains in the lawsuit that Jonathan Motl illegally used public resources as the commissioner of political practices to oppose the 2016 reelection of Rep. Brad Tschida, R-Missoula.
In Motl’s request for the dismissal of the lawsuit, he argued Monforton didn’t explain how he was harmed by Motl’s actions.
